Welcome To My Poodles.com

The poodle is an amazing breed. Poodles are very smart and easy to train, friendly and good with kids, they don't shed...the list goes on and on.

As wonderful as poodles are, they are not for everyone. The poodle needs much more care and attention than most other dog breeds.

As the owner of a poodle-or someone who is thinking about adopting one-you probably have questions about the poodle breed.

My goal is to give you the answers you need to-decide if the poodle is right for you-care for your poodle. From puppyhood into adulthood. Complete with breed-specific health issues and behavioral traits that may arise, and tips for house training and grooming your poodle.

Common Characteristics of the Poodle
Regardless of size-Standard, Miniature, or Toy-the poodle has a sweet temperament and are completely devoted to their human companions. The variety of colors range from many shades of solid colors to poodles of more than one color, known as the parti-colored poodle and phantom poodle.
Poodle Health Care Information
Preventive health care, good nutrition, knowing what breed-specific diseases and health issues your dog is at risk for and learning how to detect signs of an illness early, can go along way in protecting your poodles health.
Poodle Home Grooming Tips
Grooming involves more than brushing, combing and clipping the poodles virtually non-shedding coat. Along with ear and eye care, your poodle will need her teeth brushed and her nails trimmed. Puppy grooming tips.
Tips For Housebreaking Your Poodle
Housetraining your poodle is an important life-lesson, that sets the foundation for preventing other inappropriate behavior. Crate training is the most effective housebreaking method. But leaving a puppy in a crate too long, forcing him to eliminate in crate, will defeat the purpose of using a crate. In this case you may need a long-term confinement area.
When Your Poodle Has Behavior Problems
Even the eager-to-please Poodle can develop behavior problems, especially when going through the rebellious teenage months. Most problems can be overcome with a little work on your part. Some problems (like excessive barking) are symptoms of a more serious problem (separation anxiety).
Who We Are
My name is Sue Vickers. I am lucky enough to share my life with two Toy Poodles, Cleo and Nyka. Cleo has separation anxiety and is the reason My Poodles.com exists. While searching for information to help her, I discovered most Poodle websites focus on selling puppies, breeders and show dogs. I couldn't find enough relevant information about living with a poodle, let alone living with one that had issues.
